Michael PurnellOne of the ways I’ve chosen to give back to the university, other than creating scholarships for students, is earmarking a portion of my estate for WUIS Public Radio.

Having listened to WUIS for a long time, I trust public radio to keep me current on all the issues, without censorship or filtering. I don’t feel like a commercial, corporate network is dictating what is important to hear or know about, or that news decisions are made by someone with an agenda other than helping me be knowledgeable about this world we share. Commercial news only has a certain amount of time to discuss a limited number of issues, and public broadcasting offers more. Of course, I could always use more world news – I'm so glad they've added the BBC World News overnight! – and I could always use more environmental news – but I know that if any resource will bring me the information I seek, it will most likely be public radio."
- Michael Purnell, long-time member, volunteer & ambassador for WUIS Public Radio

Whether you'd like to put a gift to the station in your will, or would like to make a tax-deductible donation today for the station's future, the WUIS Legacy Fund provides a means for living donors to make a lasting, positive impact in the community beyond annual membership support.

The WUIS Legacy Fund consists of large gifts - cash, stock and planned gifts - that are permanently invested, and the interest becomes a stream of funding that cannot be affected by economic downturns. The WUIS Legacy Fund is an important partnership between supporters and the station, a pact to keep in-depth reporting and quality public radio programs available to our community for years to come by furthering the station's financial stability. The WUIS Legacy Fund is managed for WUIS by the University of Illinois Foundation.
