As Election Day nears... the end is in sight. Illinois residents won't be subjected to the constant parade of negative political advertising for much longer. Representative Raymond Poe Running for Re-election

Republican Raymond Poe was among the first to announce his candidacy for Lieutenant Governor. As it became more obvious that most gubernatorial candidates had picked their running mates and the field got more crowded... he withdrew from that effort in December. The representative in the 99th House district has a constituency of 105-thousand of the approximately 190-thousand residents in Sangamon County. During Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich's first term... few issues have occupied as much of his time... and attention... as education. Blagojevich has been a strong advocate for enrolling more kids in pre-school... and has funneled nearly four-billion dollars in state money to Illinois schools. The Sheriff of Sangamon County oversees more than 230 employees... and... administers an annual budget of 14-million dollars. For the past 12 years... Republican Neil Williamson has held the position... and is running for re-election. When he sat down to talk with WUIS's Kavitha Cardoza about his job performance... he rated it as "excellent"... State Comptroller Candidate Profile

It would be hard to find a more unassuming office in state government than that of Comptroller. While responsible for paying the State's bills... the candidates running for Illinois Comptroller agree... it must also serve as the state's financial advisor.
