Historic Pipe Organs of Jacksonville Churches

Jacksonville is a community full of history, but one aspect of its’ past that most of its residents might not be aware of is its musical history. The Morgan County community has a population of about 19,000 but, according to Dr. Jay Peterson, the Chair of the Music Department at Mac Murray College, it has more than its share of pipe organs.

WUIS’ Karl Scroggin recently got a look at some of the city’s historic instruments and has prepared this report...

Jay Petersons’s recording “Historic Organs of Morgan County” is available from the Morgan Co. Historical Society or the Jacksonville Journal Courier.
